My First Thoughts About Kajabi

The One Person Startup

Amado

I just started using Kajabi for creating my course this month. I been looking around for the best platforms to host it on and Kajabi caught my eye. I compared it to Thinkific, Circle, Mighty Networks, and Skool. All of them were fantastic options with great-looking UI and comparably similar prices, but I chose to roll with Kajabi.

I have to say though, I chose Kajabi because they offered a 3-month trial for only $99. I had only seen 14-day trials before, so I had to jump on it.

Why I Chose Kajabi

I’m creating a course about discount strategies to help business owners build brand awareness and increase sales. So, I need A quality platform to host my course. I didn’t want something cheap like my usual Notion Course templates. As much as I love Notion, I don’t think you can validate a big price tag on a Notion template course.

For the course I need

  • Videos
  • Audio
  • Downloadable files
  • Quizzes

Kajabi offered all this. They also surprised me with zero % transaction fees. Everyone else charged a fee, aside from Podia.

Then there were all the other tools that Kajabi offered. Things like

  • Email Marketing
  • Automated emails
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Website Builder
  • Landing pages
  • Pipelines
  • and more

They offer so much under one roof. They even have analytics for your traffic, conversions, click- rates, and sales. It’s a powerhouse.

I was already using ConvertKit for my email Marketing and email sequences but Kajabi offers something nearly just as good. I plan to use both for the next several months to test for differences in open rates and click rates (Stay tuned).

Community and Coaching

The final two reasons for choosing Kajabi were the community and coaching offers. I wasn’t planning on building a community yet but now I can slowly build that out and link my courses with it.

In fact, I can enrich the value of the courses by providing a community.

The coaching calls increase the value of the Courses too. The best part about using Kajabi is that I don’t have to use a separate app to book calls, link payment processing, or send automated emails. It’s all packaged inside the coaching calls product offer.

on top of that, Kajabi has a built-in live video that records your video calls that you can upload and share with your client. Once again, all inside of Kajabi.

So, I created a free 15-minute coaching call that will also be offered with the course.

Third-Party Integrations

I do think parts of Kajabi feel clunky, particularly the scheduling aspect. But Kajabi plays well with other apps that are better suited or better favored like Calendly. You can link Calendly and use that as your default scheduler instead of the built-in version that Kajabi has. But, that would be an additional cost to use another app that’s already free with Kajabi.

For email marketing, Kajabi is known to have great deliverability. They have a strong reputation with high open rates, ensuring your audience receives their emails. This was definitely a plus for me because I don’t want my emails getting marked as spam.

But, if you prefer, they also link to your preferred email service provider. I personally use ConvertKit, and Kajabi easily links up with them once you add the API key. It’s really easy.

Kajabi has been around for a long time too, so there are tons of Zapier automations that connect it with all the major apps and most of the new ones too.

A few other popular mentions they integrate easily with are Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and Stripe. You just go to the settings, turn on the toggle, and add the API keys. Really easy.

Kajabi University

This part of Kajabi is heavily underrated. I didn’t know they had a dedicated area of tutorial videos on every part of Kajabi’s tool suite.

There are so many videos and blog posts dedicated to helping creators to get their course up and running. Or, your community, podcasts, website, landing pages, products, coaching calls, and everything else.

They really cover everything.

Normally, I run to YouTube and scour through articles on the web to help me learn a new software. One infamous one is Framer. I love Framer, but there are so many unanswered questions, and it’s hard to get clear answers. Most of the time, I learn from exhaustive hours of trial and error with Framer.

With Kajabi University, they help you with everything. With just about every single question I have, I can surely find the answers in their blog or video tutorials.

You can tell that Kajabi wants to lock you in as a long-term customer. They do so by being a tremendous help. I keep coming back to them for questions, instead of looking outside for help.

When I do scour YouTube videos about Kajabi, it’s mostly for opinions and comparisons.

For example, I was wondering why Kajabi uses Facebook Groups instead of their own community app. It doesn’t make sense. Aside from billions of people having Facebook installed on their phones already, why not opt for your own service?

Well, to be straight up, Kajabi is still improving its community app. It’s not bad, it just isn’t the best. And to be fair, people love Facebook groups. It’s familiar, and most people already have the app installed. People are highly active in Facebook groups. The user interface is familiar and easy to navigate.

But, I wouldn’t count on Facebook as a long-term community app. Facebook can completely change the algorithm whenever they want.

My Current Opinion on Kajabi

I think Kajabi is the best all-in-one platform. It’s not the best at any one thing, but they are not bad at all. They make it easy to connect all your services, track page analytics, and offer courses, podcasts, communities, and coaching calls.

Kajabi also gives you a website builder with a blog and anything else you want to link to it. You can create beautiful landing pages, signup forms, and more.

Personally, I plan to maximize my use of the courses and affiliate marketing. Once the course is up and running, I’ll dedicate my community to an affiliate marketing club, letting members sell my products and services at a nice commission. Kajabi has all the tools any creator needs, with lots of guidance and videos to get you started.

If you want to try out Kajabi for yourself, try Kajabi 30-days free with my affiliate link. You will get 30 days to try all of the tools that Kajabi has to offer. Yeah, that means email marketing and automated sequences, building websites and landing pages, creating courses and selling products, and more.

If you don’t like it, you can always cancel.

If you do try it out, let me know what you think. I can also help you out in getting started.

Hey, Welcome back to The One Person Startup Last week, I spent a few hours crafting some lead magnets to help grow my audience by over 500 new follows and over 200 new email subs. I normally link them on my landing page, in blog posts, emails, and my bio on X (Twitter), but honestly, none of those methods work as well as giveaways. I know there's a bit of controversy to running giveaways, but once I thought about it, I wondered how different are they from having a lead magnet on your landing...
