What the heck is product marketing, right?

Well, if you’re trying to sell your products, then you know you have to “market” your products if you ever plan to sell them. You have to get people to know you exist and then show them the product that will help them;

  • get fit
  • save time
  • be healthy
  • save money
  • make money
  • develop skills
  • become happier
  • and more

Those seven points are the most common solutions people are looking for. So, it’s up to your marketing to show them you’re the one that can help them achieve one of those goals. How you achieve that is through some product or service. For the sake of keeping it simple, though, we’ll just call everything a product.

A product that you can give your audience in the form of a video, download, PDF, ebook, subscription, audio, guide, or some other package that can simply deliver the valuable content you created and they need.

But, even if you have the solution packaged up for people that need it, the problem you have is, getting people to take you up on your offer. Basically getting your audience to become customers (or clients).

But how do you even get an audience? How do you get someone to become a customer?

This is exactly what this product marketing blueprint is about—teaching the 5-steps of product marketing that will help you get attention and sell your products. And if you don’t have an audience to sell to yet, don’t worry about it. That’s what step 1, social media marketing is for.

Step 1: Social Media Marketing

What is social media marketing?

Social media marketing is all about getting attention to your content, to your brand, and to your products. Absolutely no one knows who you are, and they don’t know what you do. So it’s up to you to create content, socialize with others, and teach people what you know, what you offer, and how you can help.

But, you can’t just talk about everything that comes to your mind. You have to be clear about what you are talking about and who you are talking to. Because if no one resonates with your content, no one will care to follow you or take you up on any offer.

You really have to spend time focusing on marketing yourself to people who don’t know you and building a relationship with those who do. And the best way to do this is by helping a specific group of people with a specific problem. When you help people with your content, they start following you. When you help people solve their problems, they start admiring you.

Social media marketing is all about getting attention through your content and by helping other people.

Why Should You Care About Social Media Marketing?

Depending on which social media platform you look at, each one of the top platforms will have hundreds of millions of monthly users. That means you can access those massive audiences for free. Since they don’t charge you a monthly fee to use their platform, you can basically build your entire business with free social media marketing.

That means you can build your audience on

  • X (Twitter)
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • LinkedIn
  • TikTok

There’s several others, but these are the big 6. The big social media ocean platforms with tons of people consuming content every day. All you have to do, is get their attention (hook), and drive that traffic into your marketing funnels (capture), where you can start marketing your products.

This is where you start building trust. By creating valuable, helpful, entertaining, or relatable posts, that you’re audience can resonate with.

Here’s a quick summary:

  1. Attract the right people who want what you’re offering.
  2. Build a relationship with them before they even visit your website.
  3. Create a steady stream of traffic to your sales funnels with lead magnets.

The fastest way to build an audience and get leads into your marketing funnels is by offering a lead magnet to your audience. You can do this by offering giveaways (free products that help your audience, aka lead magnets) or adding a link in your bio that links to a signup page.

Here’s a growth hack: Always use your lead magnets as giveaway products. This will grow your audience so much faster. Without an incentive to join you, you’re basically not giving them a reason to follow you for more. That’s why I offer lead magnets to incentivize people to follow and join your email list.

That’s why I highly recommend using your lead magnets to build up your audience and maximize this part of the marketing funnel: step 1: social media marketing.
